A friend and I have just come from Love Calligraphy in Glorietta, and are about to go home when a sudden urge to stop by Jupiter Street hits. It has been a recurring itch for a few weeks now, though as time passes and I’m becoming more entrenched in Valenzuela, Makati seems to be more and more a hassle to go to, and it seems it further will be as more time goes on. I figure, if I don’t make it to Jupiter Street now, I will unlikely make it in the next few months.

The actual reason why I want to stop by is to try Sweet Ecstasy, a burger joint that has garnered acclaim in social media circles, high-end publication writers and hoity-toity hipsters since moving from Cubao to their current location in Makati and expanding their menu from simply cookies to burgers, fries, chicken wings and milkshakes.

We go for the cheeseburger, with its juicy beef, tender buns and addictive sauce. Since we’re still full from a heavy breakfast, we split the burger between us.

We also have the Ecstasy Fries, with the fries served with the joint’s signature sauce, and the Oreo Milkshake.

The casual setting, coupled with the calm environment Jupiter Street has especially on a weekend afternoon, makes this meal particularly memorable.

It’s a nice way to cap a weekend before I start fasting for 40 days.
