After recent trips to Tarlac and Pampanga, I craved a change of scenery and set my sights on Batangas. I had been eyeing Nuakh Cliffhouse Café, which has recently gained attention on social media and lifestyle websites. So, on Maundy Thursday, I took a road trip with my parents and Ate Lita, traveling through SLEX, Tagaytay, and Talisay to get to this charming lakeside town.
Stop 1: Calinisan Resort – A Scenic Taal Lake Retreat
Our first stop was Calinisan Resort and Hotel, nestled on the western shores of Taal Lake. This spot boasts an incredible view of Taal Volcano, which looms beautifully across the water. Despite the Holy Week crowd, the atmosphere remained peaceful, with the cool breeze and the lake’s calm waters setting the perfect tone for a relaxing getaway.
We had planned to take a dip, but since we forgot to bring extra clothes, we opted to just take photos, soak in the scenery, and enjoy the fresh air before heading to our next stop.
Stop #2: Nuakh Cliffhouse Café – Coffee with a View
Next, we made our way to the aforementioned Nuakh Cliffhouse Café. Perched on a hill, the coffeeshop offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Taal Lake. It also serves as an Airbnb accommodation, featuring an outdoor jacuzzi for those who want an overnight stay with a view.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, who shared the café’s backstory—how he and his wife built this business from scratch. He even gave us recommendations on what to order.
We tried their specialty coffee and nachos while admiring the scenic landscape. The tranquil atmosphere, combined with the great coffee, made it a perfect place to unwind before heading back home.
After our caffeine fix, we begin our drive home. I would’ve wanted to explore the area a bit more, but my parents have a commitment the following day. And the anticipation of heavy traffic in the main roads means we need to be heading back as early as possible. Nonetheless, as we navigate the highway back to Metro Manila, the itch to explore has been momentarily scratched.
